Manager’s Message – February 2025

Our Community Playbook: More Than Just a Game

As we gear up for Super Bowl LIX—that’s 59 for those of us who usually miss those Roman numerals crossword puzzle clues—this month, I’ve been thinking about what makes championship teams successful. Whether on the football field or here at Northern Wasco County PUD (NWCPUD), success comes down to having a solid game plan and unwavering community support.

Just like NFL teams spend countless hours studying plays and preparing for every scenario, our utility staff and crew work diligently behind the scenes to ensure reliable service for our community. We regularly inspect and maintain our infrastructure, train for emergency responses, and update our systems to better serve you. This preparation isn’t always visible, but like a well-executed play on the field, it makes all the difference when it matters most.

Living in a rural community, we understand the value of teamwork firsthand. When I watch our crews respond to outages during winter storms or assist neighboring utilities during emergencies, I’m reminded of how championship teams rely on each player to know their role and support one another. Our lineworkers, customer service representatives, engineers, and support staff all work together seamlessly, each bringing their unique skills to serve you better.

The parallel between sports and utility service extends beyond our team. Just as passionate fans create an electric atmosphere that energizes players on the field, our community’s support and understanding strengthen our ability to serve effectively. Your feedback helps us improve, your patience during repairs is appreciated, and your friendly waves to our crew members in the field remind us why we love working in our close-knit community.

As millions gather around their TVs on Super Bowl Sunday, our team will ensure the power stays on for your watch parties and celebrations. But more importantly, we’ll continue executing our community playbook every day of the year—maintaining reliable service, responding quickly to your needs, and planning for our region’s future growth.

Thank you for being part of our team. Whether you’re rooting for the Eagles, Chiefs, Bills, or Commanders or just enjoying the commercials—and commiserating with me about our Seahawks watching from home (but hey, there’s always next season)—we’re proud to keep the lights on for your Super Bowl celebration and every other moment throughout the year.
