PUD Organizes Food Drive for Family in Medical Crisis
Northern Wasco County PUD is collecting donations of cash and food (perishable and nonperishable) at its office at 2345 River Road in The Dalles through Dec. 15 to benefit the family of 9-year-old Osmi Moreno, a student at Chenowith Elementary School.
On Nov. 6, Osmi was diagnosed with Febrile Infection-Related Epilepsy Syndrome (FIRES), a catastrophic epileptic syndrome with unknown cause and few treatments. It strikes previously healthy children ages 3-15.
The road to recovery from this condition is slow, long and may have lasting effects on Osmi and his family.
The illness has used up the family’s financial resources and they face a long period of financial uncertainty. Donations will help with medical care, cost of living and travel to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, where Osmi is receiving care.
